Julian

If I ever caught on fire. Dahlia Muñoz would fan the flames with a smile. So, when she returns to Lake Wisteria, I fully intend to avoid interior designer. At least until my meddling mother exploits my saviour complex. The faster I help Dahlia find her creative spark, the sooner she will leave town. But while I was busy getting rid of Dahlia, I overlooked one potential issue. What happens if I want her to stay?

Dahlia

People say the devil has many faces, but I know only one. Julian Lopez – my childhood rival and family frenemy. I vow to steer clear of him while recovering from my broken engagement, but then the billionaire makes an irresistible offer. Renovate a historic house together and triple our profits. Out temporary truce becomes compromised as we face years’ worth of denied attraction and mixed emotions. Giving into our desire is inevitable… but falling in love? That isn’t part of the plan.

Why I want to read Love Redesigned

I was craving a billionaire romance and as valentines day is around the corner I thoughts I’d give Love Redesigned a try. I’d seen that Lauren Asher was quite popular for her Dreamland Billionaire series so I thought I’d give this a try!

Have you read that series? If so what did you think?

But after miraculously surviving her first battle, Zetian sets her sights on a mightier goal. The time has come to stop more girls from being sacrificed.

Why I want to read Iron Widow

I started to see the author all over TikTok. The first video I saw was Zhao explaining to her fans why the sequel to Iron Widow is taking longer to come out that other publishers, which was hugely due to the book blowing up a few years after it was publish. So I started following Zhao, then saw her promote Iron Widow which sounded amazing and right up my street!

Check out her TikTok!

Only the extraordinary belong in the Kingdom of Ilya…

The Elites have possessed powers for decades, gifted to them by the Plague, while those born Ordinary are just that, banished from the kingdom of Ilya and shunned from society.

No one knows this better than Paedyn Gray, an Ordinary posing as a Psychic to blend in with the Elites. When she unsuspectingly saves one of Iiya’s princes, Kai Azer, she’s thrown into the Purging Trials, a brutal competition showcasing the Elites’ powers.

If the Trials and the opponents within them don’t kill her, the prince she’s fighting feelings for will if he discovers what Paedyn is… completely Ordinary.

Why I want to read Powerless

I mean who hasn’t seen this making the rounds on Bookstagram & Booktok? I tried to resist the hype but I’m getting 𝙨𝙚𝙧𝙞𝙤𝙪𝙨 fomo and caved. I hope it lives up to the hype!

I know the sequel is being published this year so I really need to get a move on and read it!

In the holy city of Tova, the winter solstice is usually a time for celebration and renewal, but this year it coincides with a solar eclipse, a rare celestial event proscribed by the Sun Priest as an unbalancing of the world.

Meanwhile, a ship lauches from a distant city bound for Tova and set to arrive on the solstice. The captain of the ship, Xiala, is a disgraced Teek whose song can calm the waters around her as easily as it can warp a man’s mind. Her ship carries one passenger. Described as “harmless”, the passenger, Serapio, is a young man, blind, scarred, and cloaked in destiny. As Xiala well knows, when a man is described as “harmless”, he usually ends up being a villain.

Why I want to read Black Sun

I wanted to buy a book both my partner and I could read… We like Brandon Sanderson, and after some extensive research online, I discovered that fans of Sanderson also like Roanhorse and the book Black Sun sounded so gripping! Fingers crossed we both enjoy it!

Have you read this book? If you have let me know in the comments below!

It is mined, traded, stolen and killed for, all controlled by two familes equal in their power and ruthlessness. When a modern drug emerges that allows anyone – even foreigners – to wield jade, simmering tension between the two clans erupts into open war.

Why I want to read Jade City

My partner and I were listening to a podcast featuring Dan Wells and Brandon Sanderson. Both were discussing their upcoming books and other book series they liked. One of the questions was ‘Who’s currently your favourite author’ and Fonda Lee was top 2 for both authors!

I’ve also heard via socials that the Green Saga series is incredible and the ending made people cry… so we had to go for it!

Why I want to read One Dark Window

Another book influenced by Bookstagram, Booktok, & Booktube!! It blew up again after the second book was released, so this was another case of fomo. I really can’t wait to start this one!

I haven’t read many gothic horror books so I’m very intrigued to see how much this book grips me. I have very high hopes so hopefully it lives up to the hype.

Genre: Literal Fiction, Thriller, Mystery, Dark.
My Score: To be read.
Publisher: ‎William Morrow.

Athena Liu is a literary darling and June Hayward is literally nobody.

WHITE LIES

When Athena dies in a freak accident, June steals her unpublished manuscript and publishes it as her own under the ambiguous name Juniper Song.

DARK HUMOUR

But as evidence threatens June’s stolen success, she discovers exactly how far she will go to keep what she thinks she deserves.

DEADLY CONSEQUENCES…

What happens next is entirely everyone else’s fault.

Why I want to read Yellowface

I was recommend this by a friend and I started to see the interviews of Kuang during the press tour all over Booktube. She seems like the nicest person ever, I love nice authors who like interacting with fans!

I also have Babel and Poppy War, so I’m definitely going to be having a Rebecca F. Kuang reading week to see if I can get through all 3!

Final thoughts

My forever growing stack of unread books at home is getting huge! I’m not sure when I’ll get round to reading these, but I hope to get them read this year!

Happy reading!
